Sol Sisters Spa Week
One of my favorite places on planet earth is Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico. I have been a spa guest for 20 years but never with my best friends, and I so wanted to share this special place with them.
The Gift Of Time
The trip was a terrific belated 50th birthday for us. The theme for the week was not determined until we arrived, that is until we saw that our casita was named Sol , thus we became the Sol Sisters. Who needs gifts at this stage in life; making memories is what’s it’s all about.
Memories Are Made Of These
Creativity is what feeds me, and photos and scrapbooking have always been my thing. I’m actually someone who makes copies of photos from their iPhone versus swiping right to left only to view them. Even as a kid, I always had albums and bulletin boards in my bedroom displayed with family and friends. I guess you could say that I was making vision boards long before the concept took off. And with our lives going digital, albums are so much easier without having to cut and paste. Further, when photos are in the “cloud” one doesn’t have to worry about losing precious memories. So my gift to each friend was going to be an album of new memories, and boy did we make a lot in 7 days.
We have all been friends since 1986, so it goes without saying that we know each other well. Each has seen the good, bad, and the ugly. In other words, what we have is a true friendship. One friend in particular named Joyce is hysterical. Her sense of humor is priceless, and she is the glue that holds us all together. Have you ever laughed so hard that you peed your pants? With Joyce it’s easy to do, especially with a vegetarian based diet and large quantities of water. We were lucky there were laundry rooms all over the property.
Although it was a vacation, a spa week is work. Up at 5 to hike, 5 hours of workouts, great fresh food, and to bed nightly at 8, then repeat. What can’t be written in between these lines is the amount of laughter and love we’ve all shared. It was the trip of a lifetime, and I am grateful for the gift of time with my sol sisters.
