If you don’t know how to put your best foot forward, chances are you won’t do it on the job. It’s called a first impression because we only have one shot at it. Body language is key. 60 to 70 % of what we communicate has nothing to do with words. We communicate by the way we sit, stand, tense our facial muscles, tap our fingers, shuffle our feet, and uncross or cross our legs. Without our saying a word, our body language is broadcasting plenty about us!
9 Interview Red Flags 🚩
- Does not do company research beforehand.
- Does not dress to impress.
- Shows up late.
- Leaves the cell phone on ringer in the interview.
- Is impolite to reception and asks for special requests such as a latte.
- Jokes and rambles, most likely due to nervousness.
- Never takes note or asks a question.
- Has a weak handshake upon greeting and saying good-bye.
- Makes little eye contact.
If you do the opposite of all of these, you may just find yourself employed.
