The Covid Chronicles: 10 Ways Your Hotel Stay May Look Different | Golden Rules Gal™

  1. Mobile check-in: Think hotel apps for a contactless check-in process.
  2. Buffets: Goodbye buffets, hello room service.  The same goes for mini bars and grab and go dining.
  3. Bellhop:  Less will be more when it comes to luggage as bellhop services will be eliminated.
  4. Common Areas: They will have social distancing markers for crowd control, and public restrooms may only allow one patron at a time.
  5. Covid Screening: Don’t be surprised if your temperature is checked upon arrival.  Health and safety for everyone is the primary concern and the best line of defense.
  6. Sanitize: We are hyper aware of germs, so even though your room may have been sanitized and re-sanitized, it’s not a bad idea to travel with your own cleaning products.  I’ve done this for years for a ‘germ’ peace of mind.  Perhaps hand sanitizing dispensers will be placed in every room?
  7. Bathrooms: It may take time to overhaul, but touch-less sinks, showers and toilet floor push buttons could be the norm.  However, if the toilet has a hand flusher, please do not use your shoe!
  8. Housekeeping: They will not enter unless you request it.  Even then, plan on your own method of disinfecting.
  9. Valet Parking: Between service for cars and luggage, they will no longer exist.  Thank you for protecting yourself and others.
  10. In-room amenities: Overall, amenities will be lighter from decorative pillows to magazines, which will make things easier to disinfect.

Cheese platters will be a thing of the past.
