Charging Courtesies | Golden Rules Gal™

Charging stations are the new gas stations, but this means that we are creating new rules by the minute. When someone covets an EV charging station it can be frustrating. Here are 4 key tips for EV etiquette:

  1. Never overstay your welcome. Move your car when the charging is complete. At some stations, you get charged for every minute that you stay longer, which is motivation to move on for the next person.
  1. Avoid using charging stations as parking spots. Even if it’s empty when you arrive, use the spot only for charging.
  1. Be considerate during peak hours. If there are cars lined up behind you, get your juice and go!
  1. Keep the cables organized. Please ensure that electric cables are returned to their designated places to prevent tripping hazards.

It’s not a bad idea to have EV Rules of Etiquette posted at these stations nationwide!
